An Ex-Gamer on MMORPG

Often it worries me that people want to actualize not merely unlimited choice -- which has always existed -- but a kind of transcendental choice that defecates on reality.  It worries me because I wonder what these games are "freeing" the player from, and whether that escape from a lack of choice ever actually occurs.  My personal opinion is that this approach to gaming disenfranchises the player, and makes her impotent in the game and in this world; while at the same time making her feel empowered and important in the game. The reality of this superficiality is repulsive to sincerity and common sense.

(God I sound like Ayn Rand's Ellsworth Toohey.)
